Helping You Recover From Your Operation

An organized, proactive post-surgery plan is the key to making a full recovery. Our team will present all of the following information to you, on a one-on-one basis, to ensure all of your questions are answered before leaving our facility.

Pain Management: Maximize Comfort to Maximize Recovery

Apply ice as instructed.
We strongly encourage avoiding narcotics if able. We highly recommend optimizing pain control with non-narcotic agents such as Acetaminophen (Tylenol) and Ibuprofen (Advil) if medically able.
If narcotics are needed you will likely benefit from stool softeners as well.

Activity: What To Do & What To Avoid

We attempt to help you get back to normal functional status as soon as it is safe.
Most abdominal surgeries require lifting or activity restrictions for a short time after surgery.

Wound Care: How to Care for Local Wounds

After most surgeries, you will likely be able to shower the following day.
If local wound care is need this will be discussed prior to leaving the office/hospital.
